About Our Organization

Founded in 2014, Airdrie Pride Society celebrates and promotes diversity, equality and full inclusion for LGBTQQIP2SAA+ within The City of Airdrie and Surrounding Areas.  Using a thoughtful and collaborative approach, we work passionately to offer programs that provide support and empower our community to be successful today and in the future.

Our Board Structure and Function

Members of the Airdrie Pride Society’s Board of Directors are volunteers elected yearly at our Annual General Meeting.  We are a passionate, enthusiastic and working board responsible for governing the organization, overseeing all of its activities, participating in events and contributing to the ongoing growth and success of the organization.

EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITION – TREASURER

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  November 15, 2019

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The TREASURER shall have the general duties vested in the office of the Treasurer of a society, including the responsibility for all funds and securities for Airdrie Pride Ltd., and shall have such other powers and duties not inconsistent with these Bylaws as may be assigned from time to time by the Board, including the duties to:

  • Oversee the financial management of Airdrie Pride Ltd.
  • Provide for the payment of all bills and obligations of Airdrie Pride Ltd. as directed by the Board
  • Keep a complete and correct account of all monies received and disbursed by Airdrie Pride Ltd.
  • Provide a financial statement of Airdrie Pride Ltd. to the Board at each regular Board meeting or as requested by the Board;
  • Submit a full financial report to the members at the Annual General meeting.
  • The Board may require the Treasurer to give a bond for the faithful discharge of their duties, the cost of which shall be borne by Airdrie Pride Ltd.

TIME EXPECTATION: 

  • 8-10 hours/month
  • 4 formal board meetings per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience with the financial stewardship of profit/non-profit organizations considered an asset
  • Strong passion for making change in your community
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment
  • Successful candidate is required to pass a vulnerable sector police check

SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR is an essential member of the Airdrie Pride team who will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing and monitoring Airdrie Pride Society’s social media strategy in order to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and create an inclusive and engaging presence. 

  • Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy 
  • Manage and oversee social media content 
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies 
  • Collaborate with the entire Pride Board to ensure all avenues are explored. 
  • Review and publish all blog submissions 
  • create and send out a monthly newsletter

TIME EXPECTATION: 

  • 8-10 hours/month
  • 4 formal board meetings per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong proficiency for Facebook, Instagram, and Web Design is an asset
  • Strong passion for making change in your community
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Successful candidate is required to pass a vulnerable sector police check

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR is an essential member of the Airdrie Pride team who will be responsible for running our community programs while continually looking for new engagement opportunities throughout Airdrie and beyond :

  • Provide leadership and facilitation for Community Coffee, Pride in the Pub, and Parenting with Pride committees 
  • Creatively brainstorm, propose and drive new initiatives that promote community engagement and create space for the LGBTQ2S+ community.
  • In conjunction with the executive, lead the development of a framework and strategy for Safe Place Initiative 
  • Provide all feedback and metrics from events

TIME EXPECTATION: 

  • 8-10 hours/month
  • 4 formal board meetings per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiasm for building relationships in the community

 Fundraising Director

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  November 15, 2019

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR is an essential member of the Airdrie Pride team who will passionately organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations, grants or other gifts to maximize the support and services that can be offered by the Airdrie Pride Society.

  • Work closely with the Executive to develop clear and reachable fundraising goals. 
  • Develop fundraising strategies, formulates solicitation procedures, and oversees all fundraising activities. 
  • Identifies new donor bases, directs and coordinates solicitation of funds. Acts as liaison with funding partners and organizations. 
  • Leads grant-writing efforts through municipal, provincial and federal avenues

TIME EXPECTATION: 

  • 8-10 hours/month
  • 4 formal board meetings per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in fund development will be considered an asset
  • Experience in grant writing and proposals will be considered an asset
  • Strong passion for making change in your community
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with the next generation of amazing humans

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  November 15, 2019

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The YOUTH ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR is an essential member of the Airdrie Pride team who will be responsible for facilitating all of our youth programming.  This individual will be a trusted and accountable support person that is continually advocating and working to support and empower LGBTQ2S+ youth in Airdrie and beyond!

  • PRYSM (PRide Youth Social Movement) planning and facilitation in conjunction with Community Links staff
  • Set up and facilitate a Youth Advisory Council to ensure APS is relevant to this demographic 
  • Build and foster a relationship with local GSA leaders 
  • Work with the executive to develop and steward an Airdrie Pride Society Scholarship Program

  • 8-10 hours/month
